Gippsland Hill Climb Championships

Several club members took part in the Gippsland Hill Climb Championships – an annual event on the cycling calendar.

A disappointing turn out of 10 seniors rode from Trafalgar to Neerim Junction via Hill End and Noojee whilst five juveniles commenced and finished a 15 km circuit at Neerim Junction after also riding into Noojee.

The senior event went to Leongatha’s VIS rider Troy Warren in a race where punctured tyres were common.  Aaron  Nobelius blew the opposition away with an incredible exhibition of attacking hill climbing.  Right from the start he  made his intentions known and in a very fast race never allowed his opponents time to settle, scoring comfortably by over one minute from Sale/Maffra rider Rohan Cook.

Warragul’s Brad Clark and Stuart Cuckson had a great battle for third with Brad’s superior sprinting ability enabling him to grab Stuart in the final charge to the line.  Brett Miller found the older riders and the pace a little hot but battled on well to take out the Juvenile Two Hill Climb.

Racing was cancelled on the previous Saturday (May 23) due to the poor weather conditions and the absence of many riders who had commitments elsewhere.
