3 Day Tour Preview

There will be no club racing next Saturday as the Gippsland Three Day Tour will be held over the long weekend.

Seven Warragul riders have entered the race which sees 10 teams of four riders competing over six stages.

Philip Gallagher will lead the team of Lennie Van Berkel, Gary Jackson and Chris Hole which is being sponsored by Geoff and Bernie Quirk at Active Outdoor Sports Warragul.  Wayne Kestle (No.2) and Graeme Hanks (No.4) will combine with Dave McFarlane (capt) and Chris Kypriotis in the Drouin cycles team sponsored by Wilf Tampaline at Drouin Cycles.  The team sponsored by Coldon Homes includes John Salton as number two rider to Troy Warren with Justin Singleton and Tony Clark as number three and four.  Geoff Thomson and Tim Eerhard are also competing in separate teams and both are expected to perform well.

Saturday’s racing will be a 4 km individual time trial and an 80 km road race at Maffra while Monday will see a 75 km road race and a 75 km road race and a one hour Criterium at Mirboo North.

Warragul will host Sunday’s events with a 24 km teams time trial in the morning from the Clover lea School and a 90 km road race on the Cloverlea circuit commencing at the velodrome at 1.30pm.

Club members are reminded of the general meeting to be held on Tuesday, June 9 with the annual meeting to be held following racing on Saturday, June 13.  Please note that all nominations for committee positions close on the ninth.
