2007 Bush Crits – Race 2

09/12/2007

Small numbers again with 1 A Grader (Tim Lee) a few B graders and a smattering of C graders.

C grade: Geoff Gatt fresh from the GVBR rode off the front of the bunch and after being passed by B grade, was content to pace them.

B Grade: Callan Barker attacked immediately after the first corner.  This nearly dropped a few riders.  After about 4 laps, Clint Hick had succumbed and a newly promoted C grader also was no more.  Paul Yeatman launched a few attacks for the entire length of the back straight this week but was unable to shake anyone for more than a straight before being caught.  Dave Ballie also attacked a little.

Barker launched an attack about 5 laps out and rounding the top corner, was felled by a rogue stone which flicked his front wheel out from under him.  After his lap out he returned full of adrenaline.

With 3 laps to go, the bell was sounded for the C graders confusing at least one of the B graders (who made sure he was first across the line next lap, just in case).  With two laps to go Tim Lee (sitting in with B grade) hit the front and was shadowed by Barker.  On the final corner, Ballie attacked.  This week Barker was on him and Yeatman on Barker.  Coming up to the line Yeatman moved into second position and had no trouble pulling ahead just in time to claim first.  Ballie was second followed by an gravel rashed Barker for a convincing third.  Trevor Rollinson completed the bunch sprint.

A Grade:  The lone A grader sat in with B grade and had an easy win.
