Riders woke to cold drizzle and strong winds and the weather bureau promised sun by 11am.  As the race began, the last of the scattered drizzle ceased.  The mass start field was split almost immediately with Leigh Hauxwell, Brett Rollinson Matt Malacarne, Jason Tubnor and David Smith pulling away from Colin Brown and Leigh Jamieson.  Further back, Paul Yeatman was towing Rob Monk up the climb.

Connor Baggot rolled up late and was forced to chase.  He caught the group of Monk, Yeatman, Jamieson and Brown and rode past them.  Jamison gave chase but soon thought better of it.

At the front of the climb, Rollinson and Hauxwell did the best to gap the rest of the field with the Hawk taking line honors and the title of Club Champion in both open and Masters 123.  Rollinson was next, followed by Smith.  Tubnor rounded out the Masters 123 age group.

Smith and Malacarne came first and second respectively in Masters 456 with Monk saying thanks for the tow with 100m to go coming in third.

Brown who rode a steady ride claimed first for his age category.

Jayman Presidge took it easy, pacing his two children up the climb so well done there. Besides his daughter, no ladies raced today.
