The Land Safe AG-Challenge Sunday Summer Crit Series @ Burke Street Park
Feb 14 @ 8:15 AM – 11:00 AM

Details of the Series: http://www.hubbard.cz/pdf/english.pdf

Entry Cost: $10 per race if you pre enter online before 9 pm on the day before the race.Late race entry is $15.  Drouin Cycles prize vouchers will be awarded for each race of the series.

Race Format: Races will be graded scratch race format. Races are criteriums. Riders may take a lap out after reporting to the race director with a mechanical or in case of a crash. You cannot have a lap out in the last 20 minutes of the race.

Series Points:

6,5,4,3,2, for the first 5 riders over the line. Each race finisher will get 1 point. Points for your best 4 races will count in your overall score. (You could still win even if you miss a few races.) In the event of a tie on points race wins will form a countback. If still equal race wins the last race will count for double.

Intermediate Sprints:

2&1 points for intermediate sprints. Each race will have 1 intermediate sprint. The race director will blow a whistle at some point in the race which will indicate an intermediate sprint is on next time the riders cross the start finish line.

The number of points a rider earns in each race for both the race finish and intermediate sprints will contribute to the overall series points.

Points earned in any grade are of equal value.

A riders grade can change throughout the series.

Series Prize: Total Prize Pool $300

1st $120 2nd$80, 3rd $50, 4th $30 5th $20.

Thanks to Ag- Challenge Consulting for the generous sponsorship of the series.

Flexible Grading System

When riders enter they are placed in rank order. The best rider based on rankings is given no 1. Second best number 2 and so on.

As entries come in the number of grades changes based on the following table.

Total Number of Riders Number of Grades
Up to 15 2
16 to 24 3
25 to 40 4
41+ 5

Equal numbers of riders are placed in each grade based on rankings. If an odd number exists more riders are added to higher grades.

eg 20 riders = 3 grades.

20/3 = 6.66 So put 7 top ranked riders in A grade, Next 7 ranked riders in B grade and bottom 6 in C Grade.

In the pre race briefing indicate which placings will received prize money. Eg A grade has 12 riders so we are paying to 4th.

Number of Starters in the Grade
Placing 10+ Starters 8 or 9 Starters 6 or 7 Starters 4 or 5 Starters 2 or 3 Starters
1st 40 40 30 20 20
2nd 30 20 20 10 0
3rd 20 10 0 0 0
4th 10 0 0 0 0

The purpose of the flexible grading system is to allow riders who are sometimes, “between grades” to race in the higher grade some weeks and a lower grade in other weeks. For these riders we say, “Some weeks you are a rooster and others you are a feather duster.”

Riders ranking will be updated each week. Riders who gain no points in a grade for 2 weeks in a row are open to be relegated to a lower grade.

To make flexible grading possible it is important riders pre register online to race.

Race Times:

A Grade 1hr plus 1 lap.

B Grade 55 mins plus 1 laps

C Grade 50 plus 1 lap

D Grade 45 plus 1 lap

E Grade 40 plus 1 lap
