Track Racing

No bike?  We have loaners!

No hill legs?  Our velodrome has none!

No endurance?  The shortest race consists of 200m of sprinting and an endurance track race is about 10km at most.

This introduction to track racing booklet is very informative.

Currently, Junior track training is held on Monday nights and is limited to 15 riders.  This allocation is filled.  We are seeking additional coaches so we can expand our offering.

Senior Track Launch 2018 – November 28th.

We are pleased to announce the launch of senior track at 5.30 pm on 28/11/18 at Warragul Velodrome. There have been several attempts in recent years to build the track program, and the very successful junior program (initiated by George and now run for 2 seasons by Ross and Annie) will be a feeder to senior track. Let’s make a huge effort to make this one stick, and give the juniors something to progress to! If this season is successful, the track training may continue year-round, weather permitting. You don’t have to be competitive – just come and ride!

To join, you will need to:

• Turn up by 5.30 pm on Wednesday, November 28th, 2018 at the velodrome
• Bring your Cycling Victoria membership card (or number and receipt if it’s new)
• Bring your track bike, gloves and helmet

If you are new to track, and/or if you wish to use a club bike, also:

• Try to arrive a few minutes early
• Bring your own pedals, gloves and helmet
• $20 for use of a club bike for the season to cover minor maintenance costs

Your membership, contacts and fees (if applicable) will be collected on your first night, and there will be group and individual safety briefings. Track cycling has its own risks, and you will also be asked to sign a waiver before you ride.

Membership can be purchased at http://membership.cycling.org.au/
You’ll need a minimum of “Ride+” but if you wish to race, you’ll need the “Race” membership. Now is a good time to purchase 2019 membership because you’ll get until the end of 2018 for free!

Training nights will include warm-ups, efforts, skill sessions, races or simulations, free ride, cool downs. Finish by 7.30 pm.

Intro and safety briefing at 5.30 pm each week so please try to be on time.

Keep on pedaling!
